Update: Masks Optional in Buildings as of February 28, 2022

Beginning Monday, February 28, 2022, the McDuffie County School System will be eliminating the mask requirement for students and staff with the exception of buses and the CDC guidelines listed below.

Teachers, staff, and students are required to quarantine at home for five days if:

  • They have tested positive;
  • They are assumed positive due to a COVID positive person staying in the home; or
  • They are an unvaccinated individual with direct contact to a positive case.

These individuals may return to school on the 6th day if they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications and they agree to wear a face covering for an additional five days.

Face coverings will be required for any staff member or student who returns to school after the fifth day of isolation for an additional five calendar days.

Teachers, staff or students who are fully vaccinated, at least two weeks from the last vaccination, will not be required to quarantine when exposed to a positive individual; however, they will be required to wear a face covering up to ten days.

The district requests all families to closely monitor their students and not send  to school any students who may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who appear to be ill in any way.
