In compliance with IDEA and State Guidance, the McDuffie County School System has the responsibility to identify all home school and private school students who may or do qualify for special education services. Once identified, the school district must conduct meaningful consultation concerning the services that may be provided to students with disabilities. These services may not be to the extent provided in the public school; however, McDuffie County Schools has an obligation to provide parentally placed private school children with disabilities an opportunity for equitable participation in the services funded with Federal Part B funds.
Parents of home school and private school students wishing to meet to participate in the consultation process should attend a meeting on August 29 at 4:00 p.m. at Student Services, 511 Main Street Thomson.
If you would like more information, please contact the Student Services Director, Ms. Angie Rogers, at 706-986-4100 or email [email protected].
